आयकर विभाग बैंक खातों में अघोषित बड़ी रकम जमा करने पर वार्षिक आयकर रिटर्न (आइटीआर) दाखिल किए जाने से पहले ही 200 फीसद तक का भारी जुर्माना लगा सकता है। सरकार के इस कदम का मकसद यही है कि पुराने नोटों को बदलने की 50 दिन की अवधि में लोग कालेधन को सफेद न कर लें। वित्त मंत्रालय के एक अधिकारी के मुताबिक, सरकार की जन धन खातों में जमा की जा रही राशि में आई तेजी पर भी नजर है। वह किसी भी अघोषित भारी नकदी जमा पर 200 फीसद तक का जुर्माना लगाएगी। 500 और 1000 के मौजूदा नोटों को चलन से बाहर करने के बाद सरकार ने ग्राहकों को इन्हें बदलने के लिए 50 दिन का समय दिया है। देखने में आया है कि सरकार के फैसले के बाद से जन धन खातों में नकदी जमा होने की रफ्तार जोरदार ढंग से बढ़ी है। इन खातों को विभिन्न सरकारी स्कीमों की सब्सिडी सीधे खाताधारक के अकाउंट में जमा कराने के लिए खोला गया था। अधिकारी ने कहा कि कर विभाग जन धन खातों में जमा राशि में उछाल की जांच कर रहा है। वह इनका विश्लेषण करेगा और किसी भी तरह की अघोषित ऊंची जमाओं के मामलों में टैक्स व 200 फीसद तक का जुर्माना लगाया जाएगा।
 मनी लांड्रिंग निरोधक कानून की धारा 12 के तहत कर विभाग रिजर्व बैंक सहित सभी बैंकों से सूचना मांग सकता है। अधिकारी ने बताया कि नोटों की अदला-बदली के लिए उपलब्ध कराए गए 50 दिन के समय का दुरुपयोग न हो, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सरकार सालाना आइटीआर भरने से पहले ही कर व जुर्माना लगा सकती है।
